www.realbeers.ie mail order website with a good range of German beers for delivery throughout Ireland.
The Beerkeeper, 12 Park St., Dundalk, Co. Louth ,Ireland. Phone: 042 9335175, fax: 042 9335175. An anonymous reader says: "It's a great pub with excellent staff and they stock over 100 beers!". Their website lists a fine range of German beers in bottle and on draught.
The Porterhouse, 16-18 Parliament Street, Dublin 2. T: +353 1 6728087. This pub, owned by Dublin's Porterhouse brewery serves a range of German beers, including: Erdinger Weissbier, Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel and Erdinger Pikantus; Schneider Weisse and Schneider Aventinus; Veltins and Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen plus many Belgian beers and many more from around the world. Now, this is all well and good, but their own beers are so outstanding I've never managed to bring myself to order a German beer in the Porterhouse. Their Oyster Stout is a fine example of what a real stout should taste like, exposing Guinness as a tasteless impostor. Magnificent.
The Porterhouse, Strand Road, Bray, County Wicklow. T: +35 31 286 1839. See review for the Dublin Porterhouse above.
Redmonds off license, 25 Ranelagh, Dublin 6. Check their website for a range of weissbiers, including Erdinger Weissbier, Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel, Maisel's Weisse, Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier and Schneider Aventinus Doppelbock.
The Bierhaus, 2 Henry St., Galway. Has a very large selection of German beers, as well many other brews from around the world (reported by Conor Lynam).
If you know of anywhere that I've missed (and there must be many), please email me.
It's worth checking out the mainstream off licences and major supermarkets, and if you still can't find what you're looking for locally, try our Mail Order listings.
